Jules Rene Herve (1887-1981)
Important French Impressionist
The great French painter, Jules Rene Herve, was a shining example of a pure artist, as he enjoyed working alone, painting subjects of his own choice, and caring not about trends or artistic pressures. His talent would soon become evident though, and in 1914, he was awarded the Medaille d'Argent at the Salon des Artistes Francais, where he exhibited regularly.
After receiving a teaching diploma, he taught painting to generations of aspiring artists for over twenty years. However, his greatest legacy is the paintings of everyday French life, rendered with his unique sensibility and palette.
Herve paintings can be found in numerous museums and important collections worldwide.
