Charles Cobelle (1902-1994)
Cobelle was born in Alsace Lorraine France in 1902, where he lived and painted into his late 20's. Just before turning 30, he moved to the United States. In the U.S., his paintings were an immediate hit and highly sought after by galleries and collectors alike.
The artist's education consisted of studies at the University of Munich and the L'Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. He also studied with Chagall and apprenticed in the studio of Raul Dufy in Menton, on the Riviera.
